Big news from Cat & Stef
Oi Oi,
It’s Cat and Stef here with some HUGE news to share about what we’re going to be up to for the next year (and hopefully beyond).
We’re hyped to announce that we are joining the Regional Theatre Young Director Scheme (RTYDS) as Co-Creative Leads to help shape their new project, Fair Play, which we aim to launch in 2025.
Fair Play seeks to challenge the systemic and organisational barriers that prevent theatre makers from low socio-economic backgrounds from sustaining careers and fulfilling their potential as leaders.
Classroom has always had a close relationship with RTYDS, starting in 2020 when we brought WBC-C artists together to form a supportive virtual network during the pandemic. We then became their Connect Company in 2022 and worked together to realise projects that we’d been planning in our heads for a long time.
RTYDS share our mission to centre working, benefit, and criminal class artist voices and address the structural inequality in theatre for creatives from low socio-economic backgrounds and we’re really looking forward to taking the partnership further with Fair Play.
You can read more about Fair Play here.
This means for now we will stop making Classroom projects although our ongoing programmes, Surviving on a Shoestring and Networking Bursaries, will continue as usual as part of RTYDS and the rest of our time will be dedicated to getting Fair Play ready alongside the team.
Love,
Cat and Stef x
